Local history: Our villages retain much of
the natural beauty apparent to the
settlers
of the
late 1700's who used the river to raft logs to
Trenton. The Erie Railroad started construction in
Deposit in
1832 and its arrival in 1848 opened
Delaware County to rail
trade through Hancock. A
stroll through our downtowns today
will remind
many of the small towns of their youth
